More About Runway Clothes Consignment

Evelyn Stephens

Runway Clothes Consignment was launched in 2007 by Evelyn Stephens. Evelyn's fascination with beautiful clothing inspired her 30-year career in high-end retail where she quickly rose through the ranks to top management. She has held positions with Saks Fifth Avenue, Ralph Lauren, Bloomingdales and Burdines Department Store. Evelyn has also worked with a long list of designers, including Adolfo, Bill Blass, Oscar de La Renta, Alberta Ferretti, Carolina Herrera, Linda Allard, Judith Leiber, Carlos Falchi, Dana Buckman, Calvin Klein, Geoffrey Beene and too many others to name.

Prior to starting RunwayClothesConsignment.com, Stephens worked for the Ralph Lauren luxury brand, from 2003 – 2007, as general manager of the Georgetown (WDC) and Tyson’s Corner (VA) stores, and as area manager for the mid-Atlantic region, where she opened three new stores in the Washington area and increased awareness of the Ralph Lauren label in the DC market. In these positions, she was responsible for all aspects of operations, including but not limited to selecting, training and coaching staff, developing and implementing merchandising programs, maintaining brand standards, institutionalizing world-class customer service, participating in community events and cultivating relationships with customers.

At Saks Fifth Avenue, from 1976 – 2003, Stephens served most recently as vice president and general manager of the Tyson’s Corner store, where she managed sales and operations with direct responsibility for bottom-line results; as she did in other Saks stores in Florida as general manager in Naples, Ft. Lauderdale, and as assistant general manager in Bal Harbour.  She joined Saks as manager of the cosmetics department in Bal Harbour.

A member of Fashion Group International, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society and other charitable organizations, Stephens has received numerous honors for her superior work and contributions.  Among them are Woman of the Year for Leadership in Fashion (1988) in Collier County; the Saks Fifth Avenue Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Performance (1998 & 1999); and the Outstanding Fundraising Award from the American Heart Association (2003).

Fluent in conversational Spanish, Stephens studied journalism at the University of Florida.
